Hey guys in this video i will talk about the difference between existentialism and nihilism. Existentialism is generally accepted to be a historical movement within Western Philosophy - although most scholars today use the term Existential Philosophy to refer to the larger historical trend and Existentialism to refer to Sartre’s brand of Existential Philosophy, because he named his own work Existentialism and in so dong coined the term. Existential Nihilism is the result of uneducated people putting two words together that sound cool to them, without realizing that these two words contradict each other. Existential Philosophy is largely about the creation of meaning, while Nihilism denies that there is any meaning, or that any meaning can be created. Most existential philosophers dealt with the problems of nihilism, and sought a solution for the historical trend that led us to nihilism, although they do end up calling each other nihilists for various reasons having to do with the particulars of the various proposed solutions to nihilism.
