Developed by Incredible Technologies and published by Capcom in 1995 Follow me on Twitter @ https://twitter.com/Al82_Retro Based on the (risible) 1995 movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Street Fighter: The Movie is a weird hybrid. It uses digitised sprites made popular by Mortal Kombat, and the overall gameplay feels oddly reminiscent of Midway's fighting game, yet retains the character roster and special moves of Capcom's seminal fighting series. Personally, I still prefer the original sprite-based games. Although this isn't a bad game, the number of frames of animation in most of the character's moves mean that there's a delay between executing the move, then being able to move again. I also found that trying to pull off some of the super moves, Guile's in particular, are incredibly hard to do. Ultimately, this isn't terrible. It's pretty cool to see the actors from the film -- I presume it IS them -- return for this game, but I still prefer the traditional sprite-based Street Fighter games from the era.
