That was the case for Zayn and Niall on Sunday at the ama's when they shared a brief interaction during a commercial break. It looks like Niall had a lot of great behind the scenes moments at the AMA's, he even had a sweet jam session with his new buddy Shawn Mendes, but we will get to that in a minute. The whole Zayn/Niall awkward handshake was caught on snapchat from a nearby audience member – take a look It looks like Zayn wasn't expecting Niall to swoop in and say hello for a quick second, after all One Direction split up back in 2015 and Zayn hasn't always had the best things to say about the group. And last night he didn't skip a beat during his acceptance speech for Best New Artist Award, he joked “This one has just my name on it right?”. Unfortunately for him, or maybe fortunately.. Niall wasn't in the audience during the speech. However Niall did tell Entertainment Tonight before the AMA's “I haven’t spoken to him in a few months or whatever, and haven’t seen him in a while, so I’m looking forward to seeing him.” You know it is possible Niall wasn't there during Zayns speech because he was busy rocking out back stage with his new bro – Shawn Mendes. This just makes us want more Shawn and Niall, what an amazing duo, even harmonizing together while relaxing backstage, they are truly an inspiration to any singer. Shawn was nominated for New Artist Of the Year which is about time! Ever since stitches came out we have been hoping to see Shawn on that stage sooner, rather than later. What do you guys think!
