The BEST Greek dessert to make at home super easy. Every time we are going to Greece, this is the first dessert we are looking for to eat! 😁 First, make sure to SAVE this recipe because I promise you you’ll want to make it over and over again! RECIPE BELOW 👇 ( this recipe makes 16 small piece ) Juice of 2 oranges Zest of 1 orange 100g sugar 115ml vegetable oil 2 large eggs 150g 0% fat Greek yoghurt 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp vanilla extract 250g filo pastry, shredded into small bits For the syrup 1 cup sugar 1 cup water 1 cinnamon stick Optional: you can add a little bit of orange juice here as well Instructions: 1. Juice the oranges and set aside. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius fan. 2. In a bowl, whisk together the sugar, oil and eggs until combined. Then pour the orange juice, add the orange zest and yoghurt, and whisk to combine once again. 3. Add the shredded filo pastry to the wet ingredients, along with the baking powder and vanilla essence. Stir to combine. 4. Pour the mixture into a pre-greased baking dish (I used a square one), and bake for 45 minutes or until the cake has turned out solider and become golden brown on top. 5. In a saucepan, add the sugar, water and cinnamon stick and bring to a boil. 6. Once the cake is cooked, carefully pour over the syrup and leave to cool before serving.
