Il duomo di Monza sorse nel VI secolo per volontà dalla regina Teodolinda, voluto quale cappella del palazzo reale. La chiesa venne ricostruita nel Trecento in occasione del Giubileo, mentre il campanile fu inaugurato nel 1628 con la benedizione delle nuove campane, rifuse nel 1741 dopo il tremendo incendio che aveva distrutto la parte superiore della torre.
