NixCon2024 devenv is switching to Tvix

2024-10-26 12:55–13:35 Speaker: Domen Kožar We'll be looking into what kind of limitations we've hit using C++Nix and how Tvix solves them. It's been two years since devenv.sh has been released and it has been adopted by many projects. During these years we've focused on developer experience and after adopting Rust, the last barrier to success is dropping C++Nix and modernizing how we implement Nix. We'll look into the reason that C++Nix can't solve without a rewrite and some consequences that Tvix has just by starting from scratch. Last but not least, we'll explore what we plan to contribute to Tvix and present a roadmap to using Tvix in devenv.
