When the Mahabharat war ended, all the descendants of Kauravas and Pandavas died, except for Arjun's grandson Parikshit who was protected by Lord Krishna. Parikshit ruled the lands with justice and prosperity until one day he met Kali. His fate changed that day when he allowed Kali to reside in his kingdom. This is a short summary of the life of Parikshit, his encounter with Kali and the events that followed. His story teaches us that we can't influence or escape our fate, but can only continue doing our duties and strive to have a peaceful life. In Srimad Bhagavata, the purpose of Parikshit’s life was also to tell the world the benefits of reading or even listening to it, that can drive away the fear of death.
