Toyota has developed the best possible reputation over the last 3 decades. However, that reputation is being replaced by the company's pursuit for revenue instead. Having the world's largest debt, they needed to get creative to maximize profit margins. Toyota has clearly shifted to producing "throw away vehicles"... vehicles that you can drive for only 3-5 years with minimal headache. Toyota wants us to to trade in our vehicles every few years, it makes it so they can sell more cars, trucks and SUVs. Toyota wants you to bring your vehicle in for more routine maintenance, service and repairs. The service department generates huge profits for the auto manufacturer and dealerships alike. This is essentially taking a chapter out of Ford, Ram, and General Motors' books. Lessening reliability will force higher turnover rates. However, Toyota is forgetting one thing... Their reliability is what made them exceptional, it's what allowed them to develop such a huge, loyal customer base. That's going out the window now. No longer can you buy a new Toyota 4Runner, Sequoia, Tundra, Tacoma, or Land Cruiser with full confidence. They all have tiny turbocharged engines with hybrid battery packs strapped to them. Affordability? Yeah right, their prices have shot to the moon over the last few years. It's gotten completely out of hand. In this video I talk through the many reasons why Toyota North America has lost its way. They've clearly shifted to Revenue over Reputation, and that to me... is very sad. To add insult to injury, Toyota dealerships within the US have become among the worst. They were so greedy throughout the last 5-6 years. Constantly charging markups over MSRP, nickel and dimming their loyal customers, treating you like another number. "If you don't buy this TRD PRO at a markup, the next guy will..." It was quite sickening to witness the dealer greed. Let me know your thoughts on it all. Do you agree that Toyota North America has lost its way? As always, I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to watch. If you found any value in this video and would like to see more content like this, please consider Liking and Subscribing.
