One thing is certain: there is going to be far greater demand for healthcare in the US in the coming years.
That's because by 2030, every Baby Boomer will be age 65 or older, which means that 1 out of every 5 U.S. citizens will be of retirement age.
According to Business Insider, the average life expectancy in the US was slightly less than 70 years old in 1968 but rose to almost 79 years old in 2016.
The population in 1968 was just over 200 million, but reached 323 million by 2016, putting increased pressure on Social Security and public health services.
However, bright spots on the scene include increased use of telemedicine, wearable health trackers and monitors, and in-home voice assistants.
